☽ Siguanabx's Diary ☾
Entry One Feb 2019
Named after Salvadoran leyenda, La Siguanaba / Sihuethuet, I, young Bay Area based Salvi photograph my home as I see it day to day. As gentrification rises and forces many Bay Natives out of our homes, it becomes especially important to me to document the home we grew up with.
Experiencing displacement firsthand in San Francisco's Mission District as a result of the 2000's tech boom, facing another diaspora, then transforming pain and trauma into immortalized, solidified moments. Healing intergenerational traumas through photography, platonic love, and education / awareness of self and the structures that make up my social world.
Creating as a means of therapy.
Inspired by my best friends, my community and the beauty that surrounds me.
May my love transcend through the composition of my photos.
